Autobots!!

The first robot we (Kaycee, Kyle, and Shawna) built was designed to battle our peers' robots in a tug-of-war competition. It was a basic 4-wheeled car design that ultimately failed. we had the gear ratio correctly done to optimize torque, but the weight was in issue. We didn't have enough weight on the front tires.

The second robotic device we built was designed to mimic a specific "jam-in-your-face" Wallace & Grommet scene. When the light sensor was activated, it triggered a chain reaction that dumped our lego Wallace into a chair. The lego man would then be slammed in the face with "jam".

Lastly, our third robot was a Mobile Kitchen. It's purpose? To feed hungry people on the go or at a party (use your imagination.)
The design was a light sensing mechanism that would dispense food to who ever stood in front of it. The programming created a loop, where someone would stand in front of it and trigger the light sensor, stopping the kitchen, a pause of 2 seconds would activate the conveyer belt to dispense the food, the person would then leave and the process would start over again. We had a kill switch where if pushed would shut the kitchen down in case it ran a little rampent.
(video coming soon)

The overall experience was fun and different. The hands on learning is a good break form all the paper writing and researching. This exercise taught us about gear ratios, basic computer programming, basic math, intuitive and imaginative thinking, and team work to name a few.
